An interactive workshop given by Mara Ahmed in Gilbert Hall. As white supremacy becomes emboldened in America and other western societies, overt displays of racism are becoming the norm, with a corresponding surge in Islamophobia. The word Islamophobia is used extensively by mainstream media, yet few understand its construction, context, or implications. This workshop will use an interactive, multimedia approach to help break down the term, locate it in history, and clarify its overlap with racism. This is offered by the First Unitarian Church’s Race, Racism and Relationship (R3) program.
The calendar below includes only church events that are open to the public.
