SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES
There are many opportunities to serve within our church.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers help us care for and support our community, and continue our work in so many ways! Whether you’re looking for an ongoing opportunity, or a “one and done,” reach out to the office and we can help you further connect with our community!
Sunday Morning Helpers
Our Hospitality Team consists of Greeters, Welcome Table Volunteers, Ushers, Zoom Ushers and Connections Hour Hosts; we work together to create a welcoming environment for all! If you’d like to join us, contact Rev AJ van Tine

Coffee Crew Needs You! Let’s head outside after church to meet new people, deepen connections, and most of all, drink coffee. You can help make this happen: Sign up here!
Caring Cuisine Team
Caring for one another, body and soul, is a priority at First Unitarian. When a member or friend is in need of meal support, our Caring Cuisine Team steps in.
If you’d like to join this team, and be alerted when someone needs meal support, please email [email protected]
Calling all Gardeners
Enjoy the outdoors? We welcome members and friends who enjoy the outdoors and would like to volunteer to help with our seven (7!) acres of grounds. Come learn about native plants and how to identify invasives as we work to make our grounds a welcoming place for all. No prior experience is required—just enthusiasm in connecting with like-minded people who find joy and peace in maintaining this special place.
Email Megan Meyer or call 585-734-5082 for more information.
Bi-Fri Social & Work Team
Founded in 1995 for the purpose of performing building maintenance projects and providing a social/work group, the Bi-Fri’s have continued to meet monthly on the first and third Fridays from 9:00 to noon for the last 27 years.
We first gather, eat donuts and socialize. Then we review the work list and members pick a project, often with a partner or two. Supported by our leader (aka High Bi-Fri Guy) and the church’s Lead Sexton, work projects continue until noon. An optional lunch at a local diner often follows.
Learn here why new members are needed, and what current & former members have shared. Contact Brownlee with questions/interest.
School Partnership Volunteers
For over 30 years, the UU/School Partnership has worked to positively affect student outcomes, both academic and social, at Lincoln School #22 and Children’s School of Rochester #15. Volunteers work to help build students’ reading and math skills in small groups or individually. We invite you to join us in this important and rewarding work!
Email Vicky Robertson for more information.
…and There’s Much More!
