Annual Budget Drive
If you arrive at church just minutes before service starts, you'll hit the reality: nearly all the parking spots are taken! Ahh! It is much like musical chairs - you whiz around hoping to squeeze into that last place before you are out of the game.
As you begin to think about your pledge for this year, we invite you to reflect on what it means to have found your place. It's a gift we can too easily take for granted. Somebody offered us OPEN SEATS, someone prepared a place, somebody made it possible for our family to be nurtured by many First Unitarian ministries and programs.
Our goal this year with your help is to deepen our commitment to both program expansion and depth - with a special focus on expanding small groups, religious education and worship. Be sure to look at the brochure [PDF] for what we are proposing to add, for our sake as well as others.
As you will see, it's an ambitious plan, but also entirely within reach. That's why the board and the Pledge Drive Team are being so clear about asking all of us to strive for a pledge of 3% or more of our income. Some of us won't be able to quite make 3% right now. Others will be able to do a lot more. But thinking about this as making room for others makes it clear why it's so important for all of us to do what we can. Out of gratitude for the seat we were offered, let's help ensure that newcomers are offered the same.
So, with your chair, and one beside you for a new friend...let the music play on!
